Fred Holcomb Paintings

“From the Landscape,” the current exhibit at the Spokane Community College Fine Arts Building features two artists who take inspiration from the outdoors in two very different ways.

Fred Holcomb’s paintings, courtesy of the Linda Hodges Gallery in Seattle, are from his “I 90 Project.” Many of Holcomb’s paintings show blurred landscapes, as one might see them while driving by. Holcomb was born in Tacoma and studied at the University of Washington School of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design. He has a bachelor of architecture from UW and a master of fine arts in painting from the University of Arts in Philadelphia. Holcomb now lives and works in Seattle.

The exhibit will also feature found object jewelry/sculptures and postcards by Bob Ebendorf, courtesy of the Form and Concept Galley in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Ebendorf’s work incorporates both natural found objects, like crab claws and sea glass, and recycled industrially produced objects, like keys, buttons and beer bottle caps. His “Keep the Bird in the Cage,” for instance, features a small bird figurine surrounded by crushed aluminum.

Ebendorf received a bachelor of fine arts degree and master of fine arts degree from the University of Kansas. He will host a demo and gallery walk through at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 18. A reception will follow.
